As the name implies, the Brisbane Powerhouse was once one of Brisbane's main electricity providers. These days it's had a stylish makeover and houses an arts centre and a number of eateries. Foodies should visit on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 6am, when the Powerhouse plays host to a farmers market - a great opportunity to try the freshest local produce. Grab a coffee at the Spark Bar, or a bite to eat at Watt Modern Dining with its delicious Mod-Oz food and river views. It's especially popular for breakfast (we love the homemade baked beans and the Spanish-style omelette), but book ahead as it's one of the most popular spots in town.
