One of the most gorgeous parks in town, New Farm Park is where you'll get a real taste for the laid-back lifestyle for which Queensland is famous. On any given day it'll be packed with families and groups of friends picnicking, barbecuing, playing cricket and generally lazing about. There's a massive playground for the littlies, lovely views across the river and a stunning rose garden (romantics take note). It's at its most beautiful during late spring, when the jacarandas (those big, tall trees with all the purple flowers) are blooming and the weather is warm, yet mild. The best way to get here? Cruise along the river from the city in a "City Cat".
