Hahndorf - Adelaide, Australia

If you look at pictures of Hahndorf, you'd be forgiven for thinking that it was a small German town. In actual fact, it's in the Adelaide Hills only about a half hour's drive outside of Adelaide. The first Prussian settlers moved here back in 1839 and the main street of Hahndorf still retains a lot of this German heritage and character. On sunny weekend days the town comes alive, with many quaint shops and cafes to be explored. At the freeway exit, don't miss Grumpy's microbrewery and restaurant - a real treat for any beer lover. Also look out for the Beerenburg Farm, one of Australia's top producers of jam and preserves, where you can pick your own strawberries (from October to May) and try all their delicious products.
The easiest way to get to Hahndorf is by car - simply take the South Eastern Freeway out of Adelaide until you hit the Hahndorf exit.
