Noosa River - Noosa, Australia

Noosa River

A wide, tidal river that meets the sea at Noosa Heads, Noosa River is the lifeblood of the Noosa region. Watch the action on the river (not that it ever gets too busy) and you'll see both professional and amateur fishermen (or should we say fisherpeople - we don't want to offend all you female anglers?), plenty of boats, kayakers paddling along, jet skis whizzing by, and kids swimming along the riverfront at Noosaville (another lovely picnic spot). When the tide is running out, anglers flock to the rock walls and river mouth (species you might catch include bream, whiting, flathead and cod), while the upper reaches of the river are excellent for bass. If you have the time, it's fun to boat or paddle around the canals at Noosa Sound just to check out all the fancy houses. No boat or jet ski? No worries - you can hire watercraft along the riverfront at Noosaville.
