The surf lifesaving club is the icon of Aussie beach culture and this one is a prime example. Slightly snazzier than your usual daggy clubhouse, the Sunshine Beach club has a prime clifftop position and a restaurant that does surprisingly good pub-style food (think fish and chips, burgers, steak sandwiches plus excellent seafood dishes) and brekkie fry-ups. In the evenings you can often catch a live band, or who could resist joining the blue-haired brigade for some pokie action in the gaming lounge? (We're joking).
