A playground for sophisticates and nature-lovers alike, Noosa is situated on the northern end of the Sunshine Coast, about two hours' drive from Brisbane. Nature has bestowed this hip little town with a glorious national park, lovely beaches and long, winding waterways that are perfect for fishing and swimming. It attracts Aussie yuppies, families and foreign backpackers, making for an eclectic scene of high-end dining and shopping, as well as grungy bars and cheap eats. One of the best things about Noosa is its small town atmosphere - the locals made sure it would never become as touristy as the Gold Coast, passing laws in the 1980s forbidding any tall developments. Noosa is most popular during the warmer months of November through to April, however it is bustling and alive all through the year.
