Is there a zoo with a better location anywhere in the world? We don't think so - it's worth coming here just for the views alone. The best way to get to the zoo is by ferry from Circular Quay, then jump in a cable car to make the ascent to the main entrance. You can see all the usual suspects (tigers, lions, leopards, monkeys, giraffe etc), but the best bit is getting up close and personal with the Aussie animals: koalas, kangaroos, emus (watch out - they can be psychotic), snakes, dingos and platypus (not sure of the plural for that one!) The seal show is really cute, and the bird show is fun for the ankle biters, but our favourite activity was watching feeding time in the gorilla compound - there is one seriously big guy (we like to think of him as King Kong) who steals all the food, and there was a gorgeous mother and baby when we last visited. Also look out for the jazz concerts that are held here on weekends during summer.
