Open any food magazine, flick through the newspaper or switch on the television in Australia and you're bound to find Bill Granger's cheery grin staring back at you. He's one of Sydney's most famous celebrity chefs, who rose to fame on the back of a number of classic breakfast dishes at this, his eponymous café. His creamy scrambled eggs have even been called one of the signature dishes of Sydney - and boy are they good. But then so are the sweet corn fritters with roast tomato, spinach and bacon, as well as the ricotta hotcakes with honeycomb butter. We can never decide! Bill also pioneered the concept of shared tables - his café spreads out from one enormous table that is scattered with magazines and newspapers, encouraging a convivial atmosphere. Lunches and dinners are also excellent, but it's breakfast that you want to try first. Get here early and be prepared for a wait, as no bookings are taken.
