Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) doesn't get enough attention: it's a world-class gallery promoting the modern art of both Australian and international artists. However, our favourite collections are the renowned Aboriginal ones, based on works from a number of Aboriginal communities. To learn more, join a free guided tour at 11am and 1pm (weekdays) or at noon and 1.30pm (weekends). Feeling peckish? Grab an outside table at the MCA's top-notch cafe - the food is great, if a little pricey (but with a view like this, who's complaining?)If you can, visit during the Biennale of Sydney (usually June to August) when the museum features special exhibitions and performances. The MCA is open daily from 10am until 5pm and best of all, admission is free.
