Overlooking the Derwent River, Wrest Point was Australia's first casino (opened in 1973) and it's a landmark that can be spotted from just about every vantage point in Hobart. And no, it's not as tacky as some of those other casinos you may have visited. But if one-armed bandits and gaming tables aren't your scene, then try out one of Wrest Point's many dining areas. For a snack drop by Anchors Bistro, or for something more special (and the best views in Hobart barring Mount Wellington) make a booking at the Point Revolving Restaurant. Or you can just drown your sorrows at one of the five bars. Our bar of choice would be "The Birdcage" where you can kick back with a cocktail and enjoy some of the live music.
