Chocaholics and those with Willy Wonka-esque fantasies will delight in the Cadbury Factory Tour, one of the most popular attractions in Tasmania. You'll walk around the factory learning how Cadbury chocolates are made - with plenty of free samples along the way. Then after the tour comes the best part, a chance to relax in the on-site café, purchase some souvenirs or, best of all, buy yourself some Cadbury Schweppes products at exclusive factory discounts from the Cadbury Chocolate Shop (you can only access the shop if you do the tour). But be aware, as this is a tour of a real working factory numbers are strictly limited, bookings are essential and appropriate clothing (including enclosed footwear) must be worn. No cameras, jewellery or mobile phones allowed.
Getting to the factory can be as much fun as the tour itself. Take a twenty minute drive north from central Hobart along the Brooker Highway (there are plenty of signs to guide you) or catch a bus (call Metro Tasmania 13 2201 for details). Best of all, take one of Captain Fell's historic ferries (10am or 12 noon daily, indicated on the map).
