This official Vancouver heritage site is the old salt of Vancouver, the place that locals recommend to their out-of-town friends. The ivy-covered building overlooks English Bay on the south side of the West End and is a favourite for anyone looking for the best combination of price and setting. Two blocks from Stanley Park and the same distance from Denman Street (the West End's main thoroughfare) the hotel has 119 rooms and many have housekeeping facilities. Across the street are the English Bay beaches. Families should ask for the one-bedroom suites that sleep four and have a living room and kitchen. There's a comfortable restaurant and a lounge that looks out to the beaches. And in the summer, it's a great place to view the beach-scene meat parade.
