No introductions necessary here - The Peninsula sets the standard for luxury hotels and has done since it opened in 1928. The rooms are classic and elegant (we love the flat screen TV in the bath) and harbour-facing rooms enjoy jaw-dropping views of Hong Kong Island. Facilies are sumptuous (helipad, anyone?) and service is excellent - in particular, the chief concierge Paul is a real star. The Peninsula also boasts some of Hong Kong's top dining establishments - the tres chic Felix, Gaddis (perhaps the fanciest restaurant in town) and wonderful Cantonese cuisine at Spring Moon. The traditional high tea served in the lobby has also become a Hong Kong institution. But let's face it: it will cost you an arm and a leg and your first born child to stay here. So save up for that special occasion and splurge - you won't regret it.
