For a highly touristed city with a vast range of accommodation, the dearth of boutique hotels in Hong Kong is surprising. So the hip JIA hotel is something of a trailblazer with its Philippe Starck-designed interiors and off-the-beaten-track location in Causeway Bay. As with many boutique hotels, rooms here are small but this is made up for in the thoughtful design and quirky decor. Other drawcards include the excellent restaurant Opia and the more casual Ys. Included in the room rate are complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea cakes, a glass of wine in the cocktail hour and broadband internet access, as well as use of the nearby California Fitness Centre. Another big plus for the JIA (especially for longer stays) is the kitchenettes in each room, but with the quality of the restaurants here you may not need them. Room rates start at HK$1800.
