Yuen Po Bird Garden - Hong Kong, China
Yuen Po Street, Mongkok
Visit Website
It's been called everything from serene and beautiful to cruel and bizarre. Whatever your take, the Yuen Po Bird Garden is certainly an intriguing sight. In Chinese culture birds are thought to bring good fortune, which may explain why the old men here dote on their precious pets, often feeding them by hand and taking great care in their grooming. Catch the MRT to Prince Edward station and follow the signs - it's about a ten minute walk (you'll hear the chirping well before you arrive). Around the corner there's a Flower Market which is worth a look for its many exotic flowers and plants.
