You know those picture postcard shots you see of the Florence skyline dominated by the soaring roof of the Duomo? Well they're all taken from Piazza Michelangelo. Despite the tourist throng, this is still one of the most romantic spots in Florence and undoubtedly the best vantage point for sweeping views and incredible photographs. Perhaps the best time to visit is at sunset, when you can watch the fading sun cast stunning hues over the city. If you don't mind walking up a hill, grab a map and follow the track (about 15 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio), or make life easier by catching the bus (number 12 or 13).
