About 30 kilometres from the centre of Rome, this airport is known locally as Fiumicino Airport, after the nearest coastal town. The easiest way to get to the centre of Rome is on the Leonardo Express which will whisk you to Roma Termini station in about 30 minutes. It runs half-hourly (or so they say, but this is Italy) and costs about 11 euro. When you exit the international arrivals hall, follow the signs to the train terminal. Tickets can be bought on board or at the ticket office. A cheaper option is to take a slower train which makes a few stops along the way and terminates at Roma Tiburtina station. This option will only set you back five euro.
