The first thing you notice about this place is the space. In a city where everything seems to be down-sized, it's a refreshing change to not have to duck, weave and crouch your way around a bar. Named after a brand of pool cue (not an elderly Russian lady in a woolly mask) Balabushka has a sporty theme and you can play pool or darts, watch sports, chill out on the sofa or just be a barfly. It's a good spot for a night out when you feel like a beer and a chat, rather than an all-night assault on the dance floor. The enormous video screen is a big hit with sports fans, a fact not lost on the management and they'll do their best to tune in to whatever you're after. Even if your favourite pigeon race isn't televised though, we think you'll still want to stick around.
