It's Osaka's answer to the Grand Bazaar. Shinsaibashi-suji is a long, narrow downtown street covered with a roof and lined with shops on either side, creating an enormous, all-weather, urban shopping mall. Visited by more than one hundred thousand shoppers and commuters each day, Shinsaibashi-suji stretches for almost two kilometres and houses more than 500 shops and restaurants. You'll find department stores and shoe shops alongside gaming parlours and cafes. You name it, it's there somewhere. This street never closes and it's almost impossible to have a day out in the south of Osaka without passing through at some point. Whether it's a convenient thoroughfare or you do actually go there to do some shopping, we think it's worth a special trip anyway.
