Some cafes do more than just coffee and cake. In a city with more coffee shops than Marseille, you really need a unique selling point to bring the people in. There's no doubt digmeout has this covered. As much a gallery as a cafe, digmeout showcases the talent of domestic independent artists while providing a unique spot for coffee and conversation. And they never, ever close. A new exhibition comes in every three weeks and even the music changes - according to the time of day - you might catch some upbeat crossover jazz mid-morning and then Radiohead or Coldplay in the evening. Why 24 hours? The owners wouldn't have it any other way. You can't close the door on inner renewal they say, so the welcome mat stays out forever. That's a good thing, because we'll definitely be back.
