A relic from Malaysia's colonial days, the Coliseum Cafe has achieved legendary status in Kuala Lumpur. It evokes a touch of nostalgia for many older locals, who had their first taste of Western food here. Built in the early 1920s, this ageing establishment is not exactly a feast for the eyes with its peeling paint and somewhat worn furnishings, but it still serves up a good, hearty steak at an unbeatable price. These steaks, plus the crab baked with cheese, are the signature dishes. While not for everyone, it does offer a chance to sample a piece of KL's history.
