Central Market is the grand old lady of Malaysian shopping markets, dating back to 1888 when it was a wet market (the current art deco structure was built in 1928). The market has survived the onslaught of modern shopping malls in the past few decades, but has adapted to keep up with the competitors. Today, it's an air-conditioned building filled with stalls and shops selling local handicrafts, curios and souvenirs, as well as pieces of Malaysian culture and history. Stomach growling?
