Bars don't get more "Amsterdam" then this one. Tucked away in the Jordaan, you'll find many more locals here than tourists - even Holland's most famous movie director is a regular. But no matter who you are, chances are you'll lose your chair to the resident cat at some stage. Hungry? De Kat is also known to have the best toasted sandwiches in town. Have a beer, talk to the locals and get a feel for the real Amsterdam. A word of warning: Saturday is market day so the bar is always packed.
