The story of Anne Frank needs no introduction - it's become a classic worldwide and one of the most powerful memoirs of the Holocaust. The house where Anne and her family hid has been turned into a museum which we think is one of the most important sights in Amsterdam (and perhaps Europe for that matter). On display are the hiding spaces (Anne's room even has the posters she had hung up on the walls) and numerous documents and exhibits such as photos and belongings from the Frank family. The museum also features changing contemporary exhibitions on themes such as freedom of speech, religious freedom and the right to privacy. It's a thought-provoking experience that leaves no visitor untouched.

The museum is open every day, apart from Yom Kippur. Admission is 7.5 euros for adults and 3.5 euros for children aged 10-17.
