You only have to watch the concentrated expressions of the chefs inside Din Tai Fung's (DTF) theatre kitchen to see how serious this place is about dumplings. You can even see one guy pain-stakingly giving each dumpling 18 folds! And all that TLC certainly pays off - the handmade dumplings and noodles are exquisite. DTF harks from Taiwan and has a few outlets in Singapore, but this one in the Paragon has the best atmosphere. It's huge, the decor is modern and it's always packed with locals, expat families and a tourist here or there. Service is fast and at times abrupt (but generally friendly), the green tea flows thick and fast. It's difficult to play favourites as all the dishes are so good, but if pressed we'd go for the steamed pork and vegie dumplings, the pork buns, the noodles with mince and a side of stir-fried garlic spinach. What's more, it's cheap (two can pig out for under $S30). DTF is extremely popular on weekends, so expect a wait.
