Walking along Serangoon Road is like being teleported to India: spices scent the air, Bollywood music blares, goldmsiths and money-lenders jostle for your business and women wear colourful saris and flower garlands. Indians are the third largest ethnic group in Singapore and Little India is their spiritual home, their shopping centre and their social hub. This enclave rewards aimless wandering, but if you'd like some direction check out the Sri Veeramakaliamman temple and the bustling Tekka Centre, and you have to eat off a banana leaf at Banana Leaf Apolo, or go vegetarian at Ananda Bhavan.
