This self-proclaimed "urban resort reinvented" could not get any hipper if it tried. Designed by Philippe Starck and Ian Schrager, St Martins Lane is truly spectacular. Enter through green revolving doors into the intriguing lobby area scattered with bizarre works of art and furniture. All rooms have strikingly swish interiors, plus interactive light installations with ambient controls allowing you to set the mood. And to top it all off, the rooms also have floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of London. The hotel is home to the acclaimed Asia de Cuba restaurant and we can also recommend the stunning Light Bar, which uses atmospheric lighting to bathe its cosy nooks in coloured light (great for a romantic nightcap).
