Are diamonds really a girl's best friend? After visiting the dazzling sparklers housed at the Tower of London, we're guessing you'll answer yes. These giant jewels are a highlight of a visit to the Tower of London, which is an ancient fortress (built around 1076) standing on the banks of the River Thames. A visit to the Tower should include a guided tour led by the Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters), who live within the Tower precincts, and of course, the beautiful crown jewels.

Attracting loads of visitors from around the world, it's best to get there early if you want to avoid the crowds. Admission is £15, and tickets can be purchased on the day from the Tower's ticket office, or save time and buy them up to seven days in advance from any Tube station, or via the Tower's website.
