Seattle Center is home to the famous Space Needle, an observation tower built for the 1962 World's Fair. Its retro flying saucer look was then the vision of a futuristic city. Yet there is still much more to the Center - an amusement park, a basketball stadium, performing arts halls, museums, and most notably the Experience Music Project (EMP) - the interactive rock and roll museum dedicated to Jimi Hendrix, who was a Seattle local. It also explores all genres of American popular music, and visitors can even create their own music videos. The museum is also the site of many year-round cultural, music, and arts festivals. No matter what time of year you visit, you can always find something to do here.
