Visit Website
Located across Lafayette Park from the White House, the Hay-Adams is a regal hotel complete with ornate ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and mahogany panelling. The building was the former home of both John Hay, private secretary to Abraham Lincoln, and Henry Adams, a relative of former Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Guestrooms and suites are decorated in rich shades of brown and gold, and some include balconies. If the hotel is a little too exxy, Lafayette restaurant is worth a visit for a taste of the Hay-Adams before touring the nearby Washington Monument. Or pop into the swanky, dimly lit hotel bar. Room rates start at $339 on weekends and $600 on weekdays.
