Next door to Madam's Organ bar on busy 18th Street is Tryst, a quieter option that serves cocktails alongside lattes. This cafe gets lively at night (we were carded at the door), packed with 20- and 30-somethings socialising on couches, couples sharing sinful desserts and artists scribbling on napkins. The signature drink, the 2459 Martini (the cafe's address) combines vodka, mint, ginger and three "secret liquors." We're not sure what those liquors are, but after a few sips, you forget to care. Brunch is served all day an unusual surprise was this twist on an original: hot mulled orange juice.
