International flights arrive and depart from O'Hare Airport, the US's busiest airport. You can move around O'Hare easily via an above-ground tram between international terminal ( number five) and three domestic terminals (numbers one, two and three) - no word on where terminal number four went. Plenty of food and drink places exist in all terminals to refresh and replenish. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) provides cheap ($2 one-way) but bumpy train service (on the blue line) to downtown in 45 minutes. Even though the airport is only 15 miles northwest of downtown, a taxi ride can take up to an hour during rush hour and costs about $40.

Midway Airport, smaller than O'Hare and located on the southwest side, flies primarily domestic routes and has direct CTA service to downtown on the orange line. Since immigration, customs and security clearance times are often unpredictable in both airports, arrive early. Travelling to and from the United States is subject to the rules of the Transportation Security Agency (http://www.tsa.gov/index.shtm) so it's best to check their website for the latest security regulations.
