Historic Old Town, like its name suggests, is where San Diego began in 1769. There are numerous historic sites, museums and several traditional adobe houses to visit, but most visitors are now interested in the shopping and dining in Old Town. Located five minutes from the airport, this area is packed with quaint shops where you can browse for hours or spend an afternoon drinking margaritas on a patio enjoying ocean breezes. And while you're walking around drifting in and out of the shops, you can stop into some of the many museums - you might even learn a thing or two about California history. Free walking tours are offered daily at 2pm from the park headquarters.
