A five-star retreat from the hustle and bustle of HCMC, the Caravelle is the city's most splurge-worthy hotel. Rooms are modern and spacious, if a little plain, but the view more than makes up for it. The facilities are all top notch, but the Caravelle's best features are its central location and the eponymous Saigon Saigon bar, situated on what was once the rooftop of the hotel. The hotel (and the bar, no doubt) famously played host to foreign correspondents during the Vietnamese-American war, who flocked here for the best view in town (at the time, the Caravelle was the tallest building in the city). Rates range from US$230 to US$1200.
